When you create your character, you choose one of three starter Mebulys: Versoli of type
puun lehti, Liekkeli of type
tuli or Tihkuli of type
vesi. All three evolve twice – at level 20 and at level 40 – and gain a second type in their final form.
- Versoli → Versuri → Versodon (
puun lehti and
maa) - Liekkeli → Roihari → Tulispää (
tuli and
lento) - Tihkuli → Tihkulus → Tihkopilvi (
vesi and
lento)
The type triangle
The three form a classic triangle:
puun lehti attacks work well against
vesi,
vesi attacks work well against
tuli and
tuli attacks work well against
puun lehti. Against Mebulys of its own type, on the other hand, each starter achieves little. You find the full chart under Types and type chart.
The three compared
Versoli is an attacker: lots of attack power, but little defense. Its final form Versodon is one of the hardest hitters in the game and has lots of health, but it is very slow. Versoli is weak against
tuli,
lento and
jää. Versodon is immune to
sähköinen, but
lento attacks hit it very hard.
Liekkeli has good attack values and the highest critical hit chance of the three. Its final form Tulispää becomes very fast and strong in Ki attack (Ki is shown as “AI” in the game). Liekkeli is weak against
vesi,
kivi and
maa. Tulispää is immune to
maa, but
kivi attacks hit it very hard.
Tihkuli is the sturdy one: high defense, but less attack power. Tihkulus brings lots of health, and the final form Tihkopilvi is balanced and well protected. Tihkuli is weak against
puun lehti and
sähköinen. Tihkopilvi is immune to
maa, but
sähköinen attacks hit it very hard.
What does this mean for the first masters?
The first master (Mestari Nibori) relies mainly on Mebulys of type
lento: they hurt Versoli badly, while Liekkeli withstands them well. With the second master (Kohana) everything revolves around
puun lehti – here Liekkeli shines and Tihkuli has a hard time. The third master (Mestari Nami) fights with
vesi: now Versoli has the advantage and Liekkeli the disadvantage.
Your choice is not final: you can get the other two starter Mebulys later in the shop as companions for gold (Mebulys in the shop). By the way, starter Mebulys and their evolutions cannot be released – they stay loyal to you.
