Starter Mebulys

When you create your character, you choose one of three starter Mebulys: Brotinho of type folha, Chamita of type fogo or Gotinha of type água. All three evolve twice – at level 20 and at level 40 – and gain a second type in their final form.

• Brotinho → Rebentão → Frondão (folha and terra)
• Chamita → Brasão → Furachama (fogo and voo)
• Gotinha → Gotalus → Nuvarrão (água and voo)

The type triangle

The three form a classic triangle: folha attacks work well against água, água attacks work well against fogo and fogo attacks work well against folha. Against Mebulys of its own type, on the other hand, each starter achieves little. You find the full chart under Types and type chart.

The three compared

Brotinho is an attacker: lots of attack power, but little defense. Its final form Frondão is one of the hardest hitters in the game and has lots of health, but it is very slow. Brotinho is weak against fogo, voo and gelo. Frondão is immune to elétrico, but voo attacks hit it very hard.

Chamita has good attack values and the highest critical hit chance of the three. Its final form Furachama becomes very fast and strong in Ki attack (Ki is shown as “AI” in the game). Chamita is weak against água, pedra and terra. Furachama is immune to terra, but pedra attacks hit it very hard.

Gotinha is the sturdy one: high defense, but less attack power. Gotalus brings lots of health, and the final form Nuvarrão is balanced and well protected. Gotinha is weak against folha and elétrico. Nuvarrão is immune to terra, but elétrico attacks hit it very hard.

What does this mean for the first masters?

The first master (Mestre Nibori) relies mainly on Mebulys of type voo: they hurt Brotinho badly, while Chamita withstands them well. With the second master (Kohana) everything revolves around folha – here Chamita shines and Gotinha has a hard time. The third master (Mestre Nami) fights with água: now Brotinho has the advantage and Chamita the disadvantage.

Your choice is not final: you can get the other two starter Mebulys later in the shop as companions for gold (Mebulys in the shop). By the way, starter Mebulys and their evolutions cannot be released – they stay loyal to you.
