Starter Mebulys

When you create your character, you choose one of three starter Mebulys: Brotín of type hoja, Llamín of type fuego or Gotín of type agua. All three evolve twice – at level 20 and at level 40 – and gain a second type in their final form.

• Brotín → Retoñón → Frondón (hoja and tierra)
• Llamín → Brasón → Llamarada (fuego and vuelo)
• Gotín → Chubascón → Nubarrón (agua and vuelo)

The type triangle

The three form a classic triangle: hoja attacks work well against agua, agua attacks work well against fuego and fuego attacks work well against hoja. Against Mebulys of its own type, on the other hand, each starter achieves little. You find the full chart under Types and type chart.

The three compared

Brotín is an attacker: lots of attack power, but little defense. Its final form Frondón is one of the hardest hitters in the game and has lots of health, but it is very slow. Brotín is weak against fuego, vuelo and hielo. Frondón is immune to eléctrico, but vuelo attacks hit it very hard.

Llamín has good attack values and the highest critical hit chance of the three. Its final form Llamarada becomes very fast and strong in Ki attack (Ki is shown as “AI” in the game). Llamín is weak against agua, roca and tierra. Llamarada is immune to tierra, but roca attacks hit it very hard.

Gotín is the sturdy one: high defense, but less attack power. Chubascón brings lots of health, and the final form Nubarrón is balanced and well protected. Gotín is weak against hoja and eléctrico. Nubarrón is immune to tierra, but eléctrico attacks hit it very hard.

What does this mean for the first masters?

The first master (Maestro Nibori) relies mainly on Mebulys of type vuelo: they hurt Brotín badly, while Llamín withstands them well. With the second master (Kohana) everything revolves around hoja – here Llamín shines and Gotín has a hard time. The third master (Maestra Nami) fights with agua: now Brotín has the advantage and Llamín the disadvantage.

Your choice is not final: you can get the other two starter Mebulys later in the shop as companions for gold (Mebulys in the shop). By the way, starter Mebulys and their evolutions cannot be released – they stay loyal to you.
