Starter Mebulys

Leaf, fire or water: the three starter Mebulys compared – strengths, weaknesses, evolutions and tips for your choice.

When you create your character, you choose one of three starter Mebulys: Spiri of type blad, Glødi of type ild or Dryppi of type vand. All three evolve twice – at level 20 and at level 40 – and gain a second type in their final form.

The type triangle

The three form a classic triangle: blad attacks work well against vand, vand attacks work well against ild and ild attacks work well against blad. Against Mebulys of its own type, on the other hand, each starter achieves little. You find the full chart under Types and type chart.

The three compared

Spiri is an attacker: lots of attack power, but little defense. Its final form Egedron is one of the hardest hitters in the game and has lots of health, but it is very slow. Spiri is weak against ild, flyvning and is. Egedron is immune to elektrisk, but flyvning attacks hit it very hard.

Glødi has good attack values and the highest critical hit chance of the three. Its final form Glødnado becomes very fast and strong in Ki attack (Ki is shown as “AI” in the game). Glødi is weak against vand, klippe and jord. Glødnado is immune to jord, but klippe attacks hit it very hard.

Dryppi is the sturdy one: high defense, but less attack power. Dryppulus brings lots of health, and the final form Skydron is balanced and well protected. Dryppi is weak against blad and elektrisk. Skydron is immune to jord, but elektrisk attacks hit it very hard.

What does this mean for the first masters?

The first master (Mester Nibori) relies mainly on Mebulys of type flyvning: they hurt Spiri badly, while Glødi withstands them well. With the second master (Kohana) everything revolves around blad – here Glødi shines and Dryppi has a hard time. The third master (Mester Nami) fights with vand: now Spiri has the advantage and Glødi the disadvantage.

Your choice is not final: you can get the other two starter Mebulys later in the shop as companions for gold (Mebulys in the shop). By the way, starter Mebulys and their evolutions cannot be released – they stay loyal to you.
