Starter Mebulys

When you create your character, you choose one of three starter Mebulys: Spiri of type blad, Branni of type Brann or Dråpi of type vann. All three evolve twice – at level 20 and at level 40 – and gain a second type in their final form.

• Spiri → Kvisti → Eikus (blad and jord)
• Branni → Brasus → Brannvri (Brann and flygning)
• Dråpi → Dråpus → Skydron (vann and flygning)

The type triangle

The three form a classic triangle: blad attacks work well against vann, vann attacks work well against Brann and Brann attacks work well against blad. Against Mebulys of its own type, on the other hand, each starter achieves little. You find the full chart under Types and type chart.

The three compared

Spiri is an attacker: lots of attack power, but little defense. Its final form Eikus is one of the hardest hitters in the game and has lots of health, but it is very slow. Spiri is weak against Brann, flygning and is. Eikus is immune to elektrisk, but flygning attacks hit it very hard.

Branni has good attack values and the highest critical hit chance of the three. Its final form Brannvri becomes very fast and strong in Ki attack (Ki is shown as “AI” in the game). Branni is weak against vann, stein and jord. Brannvri is immune to jord, but stein attacks hit it very hard.

Dråpi is the sturdy one: high defense, but less attack power. Dråpus brings lots of health, and the final form Skydron is balanced and well protected. Dråpi is weak against blad and elektrisk. Skydron is immune to jord, but elektrisk attacks hit it very hard.

What does this mean for the first masters?

The first master (Mester Nibori) relies mainly on Mebulys of type flygning: they hurt Spiri badly, while Branni withstands them well. With the second master (Kohana) everything revolves around blad – here Branni shines and Dråpi has a hard time. The third master (Mester Nami) fights with vann: now Spiri has the advantage and Branni the disadvantage.

Your choice is not final: you can get the other two starter Mebulys later in the shop as companions for gold (Mebulys in the shop). By the way, starter Mebulys and their evolutions cannot be released – they stay loyal to you.
