Starter Mebulys

Leaf, fire or water: the three starter Mebulys compared – strengths, weaknesses, evolutions and tips for your choice.

When you create your character, you choose one of three starter Mebulys: Groddis of type blad, Lågli of type eld or Duggis of type vatten. All three evolve twice – at level 20 and at level 40 – and gain a second type in their final form.

Groddis → Telnix → Kronved (blad and jorden)
Lågli → Brasos → Sotvirvel (eld and flyg)
Duggis → Stänkulus → Molnos (vatten and flyg)

The type triangle

The three form a classic triangle: blad attacks work well against vatten, vatten attacks work well against eld and eld attacks work well against blad. Against Mebulys of its own type, on the other hand, each starter achieves little. You find the full chart under Types and type chart.

The three compared

Groddis is an attacker: lots of attack power, but little defense. Its final form Kronved is one of the hardest hitters in the game and has lots of health, but it is very slow. Groddis is weak against eld, flyg and is. Kronved is immune to elektrisk, but flyg attacks hit it very hard.

Lågli has good attack values and the highest critical hit chance of the three. Its final form Sotvirvel becomes very fast and strong in Ki attack (Ki is shown as “AI” in the game). Lågli is weak against vatten, sten and jorden. Sotvirvel is immune to jorden, but sten attacks hit it very hard.

Duggis is the sturdy one: high defense, but less attack power. Stänkulus brings lots of health, and the final form Molnos is balanced and well protected. Duggis is weak against blad and elektrisk. Molnos is immune to jorden, but elektrisk attacks hit it very hard.

What does this mean for the first masters?

The first master (Mästare Nibori) relies mainly on Mebulys of type flyg: they hurt Groddis badly, while Lågli withstands them well. With the second master (Kohana) everything revolves around blad – here Lågli shines and Duggis has a hard time. The third master (Mästare Nami) fights with vatten: now Groddis has the advantage and Lågli the disadvantage.

Your choice is not final: you can get the other two starter Mebulys later in the shop as companions for gold (Mebulys in the shop). By the way, starter Mebulys and their evolutions cannot be released – they stay loyal to you.
