When you create your character, you choose one of three starter Mebulys: Tunasi of type
daun, Barali of type
api or Rintiki of type
air. All three evolve twice – at level 20 and at level 40 – and gain a second type in their final form.
- Tunasi → Rebungo → Rimbunos (
daun and
bumi) - Barali → Membaros → Kobardo (
api and
penerbangan) - Rintiki → Percikus → Mendungos (
air and
penerbangan)
The type triangle
The three form a classic triangle:
daun attacks work well against
air,
air attacks work well against
api and
api attacks work well against
daun. Against Mebulys of its own type, on the other hand, each starter achieves little. You find the full chart under Types and type chart.
The three compared
Tunasi is an attacker: lots of attack power, but little defense. Its final form Rimbunos is one of the hardest hitters in the game and has lots of health, but it is very slow. Tunasi is weak against
api,
penerbangan and
es. Rimbunos is immune to
listrik, but
penerbangan attacks hit it very hard.
Barali has good attack values and the highest critical hit chance of the three. Its final form Kobardo becomes very fast and strong in Ki attack (Ki is shown as “AI” in the game). Barali is weak against
air,
batu and
bumi. Kobardo is immune to
bumi, but
batu attacks hit it very hard.
Rintiki is the sturdy one: high defense, but less attack power. Percikus brings lots of health, and the final form Mendungos is balanced and well protected. Rintiki is weak against
daun and
listrik. Mendungos is immune to
bumi, but
listrik attacks hit it very hard.
What does this mean for the first masters?
The first master (Guru Nibori) relies mainly on Mebulys of type
penerbangan: they hurt Tunasi badly, while Barali withstands them well. With the second master (Kohana) everything revolves around
daun – here Barali shines and Rintiki has a hard time. The third master (Guru Nami) fights with
air: now Tunasi has the advantage and Barali the disadvantage.
Your choice is not final: you can get the other two starter Mebulys later in the shop as companions for gold (Mebulys in the shop). By the way, starter Mebulys and their evolutions cannot be released – they stay loyal to you.
