Starter Mebulys

When you create your character, you choose one of three starter Mebulys: Mugurel of type frunze, Flăcărel of type foc or Picurel of type apă. All three evolve twice – at level 20 and at level 40 – and gain a second type in their final form.

• Mugurel → Lăstărel → Arboron (frunze and pământ)
• Flăcărel → Pârjolel → Jarnadă (foc and zbor)
• Picurel → Picurus → Furtunor (apă and zbor)

The type triangle

The three form a classic triangle: frunze attacks work well against apă, apă attacks work well against foc and foc attacks work well against frunze. Against Mebulys of its own type, on the other hand, each starter achieves little. You find the full chart under Types and type chart.

The three compared

Mugurel is an attacker: lots of attack power, but little defense. Its final form Arboron is one of the hardest hitters in the game and has lots of health, but it is very slow. Mugurel is weak against foc, zbor and gheaţă. Arboron is immune to electric, but zbor attacks hit it very hard.

Flăcărel has good attack values and the highest critical hit chance of the three. Its final form Jarnadă becomes very fast and strong in Ki attack (Ki is shown as “AI” in the game). Flăcărel is weak against apă, stâncă and pământ. Jarnadă is immune to pământ, but stâncă attacks hit it very hard.

Picurel is the sturdy one: high defense, but less attack power. Picurus brings lots of health, and the final form Furtunor is balanced and well protected. Picurel is weak against frunze and electric. Furtunor is immune to pământ, but electric attacks hit it very hard.

What does this mean for the first masters?

The first master (Maestrul Nibori) relies mainly on Mebulys of type zbor: they hurt Mugurel badly, while Flăcărel withstands them well. With the second master (Kohana) everything revolves around frunze – here Flăcărel shines and Picurel has a hard time. The third master (Maestra Nami) fights with apă: now Mugurel has the advantage and Flăcărel the disadvantage.

Your choice is not final: you can get the other two starter Mebulys later in the shop as companions for gold (Mebulys in the shop). By the way, starter Mebulys and their evolutions cannot be released – they stay loyal to you.
