Starter Mebulys

When you create your character, you choose one of three starter Mebulys: Germinou of type feuille, Flammiot of type feu or Goutti of type eau. All three evolve twice – at level 20 and at level 40 – and gain a second type in their final form.

• Germinou → Feuillon → Tronçdron (feuille and terre)
• Flammiot → Brasion → Cendrado (feu and vol)
• Goutti → Gouttulus → Nimbulus (eau and vol)

The type triangle

The three form a classic triangle: feuille attacks work well against eau, eau attacks work well against feu and feu attacks work well against feuille. Against Mebulys of its own type, on the other hand, each starter achieves little. You find the full chart under Types and type chart.

The three compared

Germinou is an attacker: lots of attack power, but little defense. Its final form Tronçdron is one of the hardest hitters in the game and has lots of health, but it is very slow. Germinou is weak against feu, vol and glace. Tronçdron is immune to électrique, but vol attacks hit it very hard.

Flammiot has good attack values and the highest critical hit chance of the three. Its final form Cendrado becomes very fast and strong in Ki attack (Ki is shown as “AI” in the game). Flammiot is weak against eau, roche and terre. Cendrado is immune to terre, but roche attacks hit it very hard.

Goutti is the sturdy one: high defense, but less attack power. Gouttulus brings lots of health, and the final form Nimbulus is balanced and well protected. Goutti is weak against feuille and électrique. Nimbulus is immune to terre, but électrique attacks hit it very hard.

What does this mean for the first masters?

The first master (Maître Nibori) relies mainly on Mebulys of type vol: they hurt Germinou badly, while Flammiot withstands them well. With the second master (Kohana) everything revolves around feuille – here Flammiot shines and Goutti has a hard time. The third master (Maître Nami) fights with eau: now Germinou has the advantage and Flammiot the disadvantage.

Your choice is not final: you can get the other two starter Mebulys later in the shop as companions for gold (Mebulys in the shop). By the way, starter Mebulys and their evolutions cannot be released – they stay loyal to you.
